There is a careful balance with wood, in its most natural
form, being successful in interior design. If not planned
correctly, it can look like too much or it throws the room into a serious wood overload situation! I have found some amazing examples of organic
wood details, with a smashing results, implemented by the talented eye of
some of our most respected design leaders. It is the opinion of many,
that Michael Taylor started the concept with his sexy California style.
He is still referred to as an iconic figure and I love looking at old images of
his work. You can purchase pieces from his collections and of course, 1stdibs is the perfect place to pick up a treasure of his. Many of
today’s artists have found new and interesting ways to get the look in to
design projects. I must say, one of my favorite photos is the bedroom by
Haynes-Roberts. My firm, the595project, has a beautiful table base in inventory and I think the Haynes-Roberts take is really special. They painted the table base white and paired it
with iron stools upholstered in white Mongolian hides. It is really gives
a new take on the table base concept and moves it to a restful and
calming place. It is the right amount, in the right project, that makes the
specification look hip and current.
I really WOOD like to suggest that you consider putting a
bit of the natural beauty of wood into your next project. It is a
wonderful addition…
